250mm Steak Cannons

An homage to our good friend, the Thor.

This simple peppered steak with salsa is a quick meal that takes minimal effort. Probably the most time consuming part of this meal is chopping all the ingredients.

250mm Steak Cannons (Pan-Seared Steak with Salsa)
Prep Time: ~20min
Cook Time: ~20min

UNIT COMPOSITION
  1. Salt
  2. Pepper
  3. Olive Oil
  4. Cayenne Pepper
  5. 2 1lb Flank Steaks
  6. Cilantro
  7. 2 Roma Tomatoes
  8. 1 Red Onion
  9. 1 Anaheim Pepper (use a Jalapeno if you want more spice)
  10. 1 Lime
  11. 1 Cauliflower (about 1/2 lb)

BUILD ORDER

OPENING--
  1. Dice the following ingredients: onion, tomatoes, chili pepper, cilantro.
  2. Throw the now diced ingredients into a bowl.
  3. Add some salt and pepper.
  4. Quarter a lime.
  5. Squeeze 1 quarter of lime into the salsa.
  6. Mix!
MID GAME--
  1. If using a whole cauliflower, chop it into florets. (The flowery looking bits!)
  2. Wash cauliflower thoroughly.
  3. Steam your cauliflower!
cauliflower micro:
You can steam your cauliflower several ways -- over the stove top or with a microwave.

The microwave is usually the easiest, and does not require special tools.
To microwave steam the cauliflower, place the cauliflower in a microwave safe bowl. Put a little water (maybe 1/2 - 1 cup of water, you really don't need that much.. it should not cover the cauliflower) in the bottom and cover it with plastic wrap.
Place in microwave for maybe about 3-4minutes.

To stove top steam, you're going to need a metal colander.
Place a metal colander over a pot of bowling water. Make sure the colander doesn't touch the water. Place your cauliflower in the colander and let it steam until the cauliflower is soft. You should be able to pierce it with a fork easily.
Should take less than 10 minutes.

LATE GAME--
  1. Place a pan on high heat with a little olive oil.
  2. Season the steak with salt, pepper and cayenne pepper.
  3. Rub the seasoning into the steak.
  4. When pan is hot, place steaks to sear.
  5. Sear each side for about 1 minute.
  6. Reduce heat to medium high.
  7. Cook each side for about 5-6minutes (if you go more than that, you steak will be close to well done... I failed and mine turned out like that about 7 minutes).
  8. Remove steak from pan, create an aluminum foil tent over the steak and let it rest for a few minutes.
  9. Plate your cauliflower.
  10. Place steak on plate after it has rested.
  11. Spoon salsa over steak.
  12. Garnish with left over cilantro and lime.
And you're done!
